Some of the tools we use to develop authentic leadership may already be familiar to you in the form of 360° feedback, coaching and mentoring and facilitated workshops. Techniques such as reflective practice, journaling and role play help to develop awareness and action learning provides opportunities for immediate application in the workplace.
Reflective practice challenges the leader to review their thoughts and behaviours to assess how these line up with their values and beliefs. When behaviours are out of balance with the leader's expressed values strategies are used to explore reasons and the blocks to the leader being their authentic self.
Reflective practice becomes an ongoing approach to leadership development that is supported by the coach or facilitator. It is integrated into the leader's everyday work as they use the tools to develop their own ability to self-reflect and to act on their values in their work and personal lives.
Authentic Organisations
Authentic Organisations is about supporting organisations to know their values and to live their values. It can involve a review of policies, the leadership approach, the approach to communication, and how the organisation interacts with their customers. We ask the question "how do these activities align with the values and help the organisation live the values on a day to day basis"? Solutions are designed to bring all organizational activities into alignment with the values. All solutions are evaluated to assess outcomes and their ability to support ongoing organisational learning and performance.
